Multiple Testing Clinics Open in Response to COVID-19 Outbreak in Central Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT – Covid-19 test clinics are being held this week by the Vermont Department of Health and Central Vermont Medical Center, as part of the response to an outbreak of the virus in central Vermont.

The Health Department has been investigating cases associated with adult and youth hockey leagues and an adult broomball league. Each of the teams practiced or played at the Central Vermont Memorial Civic Center in Montpelier earlier this month. At this time there are 30 confirmed cases associated with the outbreak.

The Health Department pop-up testing clinic will be held Thursday, October 22 at Barre Auditorium from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Registration is requested, but walk-ins will be accommodated. The clinic is for people who are asymptomatic. Testing is recommended for people with direct links to the teams and their close contacts. Testing is not recommended for the wider Montpelier community in response to this situation. To register, please go to healthvermont.gov/covid19-testing.

Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) will conduct special testing clinics this Tuesday through Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The clinics will be at the medical center’s Acute Respiratory Clinic at 1311 Montpelier-Barre Road in Berlin (behind Burger King) and are for asymptomatic people who have concerns about potential exposure. Appointments are required. Please call CVMC’s COVID-19 Call Center at 802-371-5310 to schedule an appointment. CVMC will continue its regular clinics for symptomatic and pre-op patients that run seven days per week from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

“CVMC has collected approximately 10,000 Covid-19 tests since March, and throughout that time we have been working in close coordination with the Department of Health,” said CVMC President and COO Anna Tempesta Noonan. “The rapid expansion of our daily testing by 100% to address this recent outbreak is a testament to that collaboration and to the unwavering dedication of our CVMC team.”

In addition to the state and CVMC clinics, Vermonters can also contact Kinney Drugs and ClearChoiceMD in Berlin to check availability and make an appointment for testing:
