System of Care Enhancement
Vermont's system of care is a comprehensive and holistic approach to reduce the negative impact of substance use through promotion of healthy behaviors, prevention, intervention, harm-reduction, treatment and recovery.
The Health Department's Division of Substance Use Programs coordinates and supports Vermont's system of care through planning, policy development, program development, public information, grants and contracts, technical assistance, compliance and performance management, data collection and evaluation and workforce development in coordination with community-based partners and providers.
Enhancements to Vermont's system of care are ongoing and include initiatives such as establishing Recovery Support Services (RSS) as a Medicaid-reimbursable benefit for people covered under the Vermont Medicaid State Plan.
