Family and Child Health (FCH) experts focus on the complex public health problems affecting women, children and their families, from preconception to adulthood. Health Statistics and Vital Records collaborates with various Vermont Department of Health divisions and other states, federal, and other organizations involved with FCH research and reporting.

  • The Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant Program administer the Title V Information System (TVIS) as a clearinghouse of FCH data.
  • Vermont Insights, a program of Building Bright Futures and a partner with the Vermont State Data Center at the University of Vermont Center for Rural Studies, is a new online interactive site that allows users to find and use data to understand the well-being of Vermont’s children, families and communities. Data are vetted from trusted sources, analyzed and organized in one platform.
  • Data Resource Center for Child and Adolescent Health (DRC) is an online resource designed to share the voices of parents with policymakers, researchers, advocates, professors, students, and other parents interested in promoting a higher quality health care system for children, youth, and families. The DRC provides hands-on access to national, state, and regional data findings from large population-based surveys. Data are collected from parents and thus contribute a much needed voice in the drive to improve the quality of health care for children and youth.
  • The mission of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is to provide statistical information that will guide actions and policies to improve the health of the American people. In the FCH field, NCHS provides online resources for the National Survey of Children’s Health, the Healthy People 2020 initiative, and vital statistics data through the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) and the online query system CDC WONDER.
  • March of Dimes provides access to PeriStats, an online source for maternal and infant health-related data at the U.S., state, county, and city level.
