Summary of 2024 Suicide-Related Emergency Department Visits and Deaths
- While trending lower, the rate of suicide death in Vermont for January - August 2024 is similar to the previous three-year average.
- A decrease in suicide-related emergency departments was seen in the first quarter of 2024. In the months since, the rate of suicide-related emergency department visits is similar to the previous three-year average.
- So far in 2024, Caledonia County residents are experiencing statistically higher rates of suicide death compared to the rest of Vermont. Residents of Rutland and Windham Counties have statistically higher rates of suicide-related emergency department visits compared to the rest of Vermont. Residents of Grand Isle, Essex, and Addison Counties have a statistically lower rate of suicide-related emergency department visits.
