Summary of 2026 Suicide-Related Emergency Department (ED) Visits and Deaths

  • The rate of suicide deaths in Vermont through June 2026 is similar to the previous three-year average. However, residents of Washington County are experiencing a higher rate of suicide deaths compared to Vermonters overall through June 2026.
  • The rate of suicide-related ED visits through August 2026 is lower than the previous three-year average.
  • Residents of Bennington, Rutland, and Windham Counties are experiencing a higher rate of suicide-related ED visits compared to Vermont as a whole through June 2026. The rate of ED visits is lower among residents of Addison, Orange, and Orleans Counties.
