Adolescence is a period of remarkable changes. This is an important time to help young people set the stage for making healthy choices across their lifespan. The Health Department, in partnership with the Agency of Education, sponsors the Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). This survey monitors protective factors and risk behaviors among youth, in order to help identify areas of need and support healthy behaviors for Vermont adolescents.  The Health Department is committed to supporting the positive development of adolescents and young adults.

NEW: The State of Vermont Department of Health, in partnership with the Governor's Office, Department of Public Safety, Office of Racial Equity, and Council for Equitable Youth Justice, is committed to preventing violence and has established the Community Violence Prevention Program as outlined in 18 V.S.A. § 13. The Department of Health seeks to enter into grant agreements with municipalities or non-profit entities to implement programming that addresses the root causes of violence.
